The local doctor found guilty of illegally prescribing painkillers to his patients learned his fate today. Dr. David Klees will spend the next 12 to 24 years in prison followed by probation.

During his November trial, the prosecution convinced the jury that Klees was prescribing strong painkillers, such as Oxycontin, to patients who didn`t need them.

Two of his patients died of overdoses.

The Pennsylvania Attorney General`s investigation into Klees` practice ultimately closed his business last September.
