Friends, Today in Billings the Pain Relief Network (PRN) held a press conference calling on Senator Max Baucus (D. Montana) to demand Senate hearings concerning the denial of pain care to patients, following the removal of Dr. Nelson's DEA registration last April. In addition to Ms. Reynolds, a number of Dr. Nelson's former patients spoke eloquently about the hardships they have encountered since losing their medical care. I spent the morning evaluating Dr. Nelson's patients. There is not an "addict" among them. All suffer from serious chronic pain, and months after the DEA’s attack on Dr. Nelson, none have been able to find a physician to treat their pain. The press conference was featured on local evening TV news. The broadcaster noted that both the senator's office and the DEA refused to comment on the plight of these patients. After the conference, Ms. Reynolds visited the office of Senator Baucus office to deliver a petition containing the signatures of hundreds of local citizens (323 as of July 11) calling upon the Senator to arrange Senate Judiciary Hearings into the conduct of the DEA.
