| Well, the grand experiment is about to commence. Just
back from the M.D.'s (he was not a psych M.D.) with prescriptions for Celexa and Naltrexone in hand. Told me it would take a week to 2 weeks before I'd notice the Celexa having an anti-depressant effect--didn't mention anything about the Nalx in that regard. He wasn't "leading edge" as advertised by the therapist, but rather just a fairly liberal guy. He had treated a number of heroin addicts, and was familiar with Nalx in regard to treating them, but not familiar with its use for alcohol problems. Finding no contraindications in his PDR, didn't seem to have any hesitation in prescribing both. Question 1-- The warning label on the Celexa indicate that alcohol should not be consumed; doesn't indicate what the side effects are, and I forgot to ask the doc. Presume that it will just make the alcohol more potent, more effects with less alcohol? Hopefully, using the nalx in conjunction, I will be holding my drinking down to moderate levels. The irony there is that it's got the same warning label, don't drink alcohol while taking:-) This really is a little like the twilght zone, if not the X files. Anyway, my initial plan is to take both, follow a by the book moderation effort this week--if I'm having trouble sticking to that, go abs for a while and then try mods again. Will be very cautious due to taking the celexa, particularly in regard to any driving after having even a couple of drinks. How are you other X'ers doing out there?
