Well, Alex apparently is right, most--or at least some-- of the "treatment" community is still in the dark ages.

Just came from 2nd session with therapist, who at conclusion of session said, "well, even though you're authorized to see me for 8 sessions under your plan, I can't in good conscience continue to consult with you, as I don't agree with the approach you're trying to take on moderate drinking-- and I don't know anybody in town who I could refer you to that wouldn't have the same problem. So, when you're ready to try abstinence, come on back and see me...."I just shook my head and left, as I knew I'd be talking to a brick. I've got a referral from a friend to a psychiatrist who is apparently infamous for treating one of the Beach Boys through his addictions, checking to see if my plan will pay for that, if not, will just see him on my own dollar.

According to the therapist, I'd been "red flagged"--whatever the hell that means-- by my plan due to acknowledging an alcohol problem--too much. Anyway, we have a long road ahead of us here folks to get the mainstream treatment establishment to get their heads out of their ass. So, rather than go to the local pub and prove the therapist's point, I'm off to the gym for some light weights and a run, then home to check on you good folks, take a couple of pills and hit the hay thereafter.

Aloha--David--and don't worry, I'm still :-)ing.
